Daughter of Claus H. and Marie (Meeves) Hass, she was born January 3, 1886, in Crawford County, and was baptized and confirmed in the Denison Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools.
On January 22, 1913, she was married to Carl Otto at Aspinwall; they lived there for three years and then moved to a farm in Iowa Township. They retired from the farm and moved to Manning in 1950. Mr. Otto died January 30, 1953, and she continued to make her home in Manning.
Mrs. Otto died in her sleep at her home on Thursday morning, October 2, 1969. She had not been ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, William and Julius Hass, and a sister, Mrs. George Beck.
She is survived by the following children: Henry Otto, Manning; William Otto, Spencer; Louie, Bennie, and Elmer Otto of Manilla; Mrs. Walter (Malinda) Dammann, Audubon; Mrs. Rudy (Milda) Malone, Carroll; twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The body may be viewed at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning after five p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
