Final rites for Charles Pfoltner, 72, who died late Saturday afternoon, May 27, 1961, at his home in Manning, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, with Pastor George B. Eschenbacher, officiating, Burial, in charge of the Ohde Funeral Home, will be in Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Pfoltner had suffered a stroke in January, and another May 22.

He was born November 6, 1888, a son of Jurgen and Frauke (Hoffman) Pfoltner, north of Walcott in Scott County. He was married to Emma Elizabeth Grau on February 17, 1914, and they farmed near Manning until moving to town in 1946.

Surviving is his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Woodrow (Florence) Flenker, Maquoketa; Mrs. Amos (Esther) Jahn, Adair; and Mrs. Lewis (Alma) Schroeder, Manilla; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters: Mrs. Kate Horman, Elkhorn; Mrs. Anna Studeman, Renwick; Mrs. Bertha Trobough, Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Alma Schelldorf, Manning; and Mrs. Lillian Fordyce, Spokane; and one brother Herman Pfoltner, Manning.

He was preceded in death by two children in infancy; his parents and three brothers.
