Claus Rohde: Of Near Manning Dies Thursday
Passes Away Of Pneumonia; Funeral To Be Saturday
Claus Henry Rohde, farmer residing seven miles northwest of Manning passed away at his home early Thursday morning, February 18, 1937. He had been ill with pneumonia for some time.

Funeral services will be held in the Lutheran Church at Manning, Saturday at 2 o'clock. Pastor John M. Ansorge will officiate with burial in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Rohde was born in Germany in March 28, 1885, son of William and Anna (Woltmann on parents' tombstone - Waltman in death certificate) Rohde. He would have been 52 years old.

He is survived by his widow Emma (Miller) and two daughters, one 17 years old, and the other 7 years old.

CLAUS ROHDE DIES: FUNERAL SATURDAY

Claus Rohde Rites Are Held
Funeral services for Claus Rohde, prominent farmer, residing northwest of Manning, were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor John M. Ansorge officiated at the services.

Mr. Rohde, who would have been 52 years of age next month, was born on March 28th, 1885, in Germany. When six years of age he came with his parents to this country. For a while they lived near Harlan and later near Manilla.

On February 17, 1909, he was united in marriage to Emma Miller. To this union five children were born, three having died when small.

The deceased was stricken first with pneumonia and later heart trouble. He had been sick several weeks when he passed away on Thursday, February 18th.

He leaves his wife and two daughters, LaVana and Della, his aged mother, Mrs. Anna Rohde of Spencer, a brother Henry, Spencer and a sister, Mrs. Dora Lapel of Denison.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. As pall bearers were: Alfred Rix, Emil Martens, Henry W. Frahm, Vernon Anthony, Henry Schumann, Charles Thiedeman.
