Delores Schulte
Delores M. Schulte, 73, died Friday, September 17, 1999, at Avera Sister James Nursing Home in Yankton, South Dakota, from cancer.

Delores Wek, daughter of Carl A. and Mary (Dangel) Wek was born March 23, 1926, south of Freeman, South Dakota. She attended grade school at District No. 99. She then attended Freeman Public School and graduated from Mount Marty in 1944. She worked at Montgomery Ward, and in 1946 began working at the Sears order office.

She married Stan Schulte on August 10, 1948. They lived in Manning, Iowa, for a short time before settling in Yankton. She worked part time at Penney's, Stevenson's.

A brother, Gerald, passed away in 1992, and she had two sisters, Marcella Welch and Sister Bonnie Jean Wek.

She then attended Freeman Public School and graduated from Mount Marty in 1944. She worked at Montgomery Wards and, in 1946, began working at the Sears order office.

She married Stan Schulte on August 10, 1948. They lived in Manning, Iowa, for a short time before settling in Yankton. She worked part time at Penney, Stevensons, Sears, and Hallmark. She retired because of ill health.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.

Survivors include six children: Jan Byrkland of Yankton, Lynda Schulte of Sonoma, California, Larry of Hermosa, Becky Wek of Sonoma, California, Tim of Germantown, Wisconsin, and Ann Schulte of Madison, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters: Marcella Welch of Sioux Falls and Bonnie Wek of Freeman.

Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, with burial in the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Yankton, South Dakota.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Kostel Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Scripture service at 8 p.m.
