Ellen (Fisher) Mantz
Mrs. Ellen Mantz, 93, died Sunday morning, March 15, 1970, at McAllen, Texas, where she had lived since the death of her husband in 1962. She was the widow of Frank J. Mantz, a widely known former superintendent of schools at Audubon and at Bayard, and a former newspaper publisher in Audubon and at Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Mrs. Mantz was born September 11, 1876, at Colfax, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. and Adaline (Shissler) Fisher. She was married to Frank J. Mantz December 25, 1900.

Mrs. Mantz was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the PEO Sisterhood. She and her husband spent each winter at McAllen after his retirement and they were leaders in the Iowa Tourist Association. Following his death in 1962, Mrs. Mantz made McAllen her home.

Survivors include a son, Victor of Mission, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Gerdy of Hartford, Michigan; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in McFadden Funeral Home, the Rev. Andrew Hofer of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Audubon, Iowa.
