WIFE SHOT BY SPOUSE HAS CHANCE TO LIVE
Mrs. Ferdinand Stahl, who was shot by her husband a week ago before he killed himself is still in a serious condition at a local hospital, although physicians report a fair chance for recovery. A bullet split in three pieces is lodged in her head. She was the former Amanda Stuhr, born September 30, 1900, in Manning, daughter of Chris and Sophia (Nulle) Stuhr.
Her husband died on the way to the hospital and was buried Friday in the Manning Cemetery. The three sons of the couple are at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand and Helen (Petersen) Stahl, Sr.

CLINTON MAN KILLS SELF: WOUNDED WIFE
Fred Stahl shot himself and wife at their home, 1416 South Third Street at 10 a.m. today during a family quarrel. He died on the way to the hospital. The act was committed before their seven-year-old son, Leon, who was at home on account of sickness. Mrs. Stahl is expected to recover.
Mr. and Mrs. Stahl were involved in divorce proceedings scheduled for hearing in the district court this week. Another son, Donald, age 6, resided with grandparents at Manning, Iowa.
Stahl used a .38 caliber revolver.
