Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with an Eastern Star service conducted by the Rose Croix Chapter 400 O.E.S., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Fred Penner, pastor of Glendale Baptist Church, will officiate. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Spaulding was born February 18, 1909, in Aspinwall, Iowa, the daughter of William C. and Effie A. (Mitchell) Witcher. She graduated from Manning, Iowa, High School in 1926, and the National Business Training School in Sioux City.
She married James N. Spaulding on October 8, 1927, in Sioux City. He died November 22, 1958, in Sioux City.
She was employed with T.S. Martin for several years and as an office clerk for the city of Sioux City for 10 years, until retiring.
She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, a past matron of the Isis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rose Croix Chapter 400 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Senior Center, and the Eagles.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Boyd J. and Alberta of Sioux City and Bruce D. and Shirley of Sun City, Arizona; a brother and his wife, Judson and Eloise Witcher of Gardena, California; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ruel R. Witcher; a
grandson, Thomas Brienzo; two granddaughters, Peggy Serviss and Mary Beth Gries;
a great-grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
