FRED H. MIDDENDORF
Fred H. Middendorf, 80, of Colfax, formerly of the Templeton area, died March 10, 1973, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church, Colfax with the Rev. Omer Woltering officiating. Burial was in the Colfax, Iowa, Cemetery.

Persons attending from this area were from Carroll, Maple River, Arcadia, Breda, and Mt. Carmel.

Mr. Middendorf was born March 6, 1893, in Albers, Illinois, a son of Bernard and Christina (Hilmes) Middendorf. He was married to Johanna Sander January 17, 1922, in Maple River. A retired farmer, he resided in Mingo from 1955 to 1967 when he moved to Colfax.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don of Decatur, Indiana, and Jim of Ames; a daughter, Mrs. Robert J. (Florence) Fox of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; three brothers, John of Fenton, Missouri, and Louie and Nick, both of Albers, Illinois; and two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Kate) Popo of Red Bud, Illinois; and Mrs. Ferman (Lena) Eilering of Belleville, Illinois.

On February 9, 1950, Fred had a farm sale, one mile west of Manning and one and a quarter south of the highway.
His son Don graduated from Manning in 1949 and his son Jim attended from 1950 - 1955. His daughter, Florence taught country school at Hayes No. 6 in Crawford County.
