George F. Signall, who had spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity, died at 7 o'clock Wednesday April 1, 1942, at the home of his sister, Mrs. M.H. Lynch, his death following an illness of a few weeks. Mr. Signall, who farmed northeast of town, had been at his sister's home since Tuesday. His age was 74 years.
Funeral services are to be at 10 o clock Saturday morning at Sacred Heart Church here, with the Rev. Father J.A. Roder offering the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Signall, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Signall, was born March 15, 1868, at Amboy, Illinois. He was a small boy when the family moved to Manning.
For the past twenty-two years he had lived on a farm northeast of town, having been a horse buyer previous to that time.
His wife, who was Maggie Streib before her marriage, died about nine years ago.
Surviving are four children: Arthur Signall, Mrs. W.O. Harr (Hazel) and Mrs. R.E. Spooner (Maude), all of Cedar Rapids, and Paul Signall of DeWitt. He also leaves on brother, Phillip Signall, of Carroll and his sister, Mrs. Lynch (Nell), of Manning.
George Signall Rites To Be Saturday
George Signall, well known farmer and resident of this community for many years, passed away last evening, Wednesday, April 1.
George Francis Signall was born at Amboy, Illinois, August 15, 1868, the second son of Edward and Anne Signall, and passed away at Manning, Iowa, April 1, 1942, at the age of 74 years.
When ten years of age, he moved with his parents to a farm three miles northeast of Manning where he resided until he started farming for himself.
In 1892, he was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Streib of Clinton, Iowa, and to this union was born five children, two boys and three girls.
His wife and one daughter, Edna, preceded him in death.
The others are Arthur, Mrs. W.O. Harr (Hazel), Mrs. R.E. Spooner (Maude) of Cedar Rapids, and Paul of DeWitt, Iowa.
Mr. Signall has lived on the farm northeast of Manning for 22 years. In former years he was a horse buyer.
The body will be taken to the Dr. Marcus H. Lynch home Friday morning.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 10
o'clock at the Sacred Heart Church and internment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
