HARIOT LOUISE STIRN
A memorial service for Hariot Louise Stirn will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 1994, at Manning Plaza in Manning. Marjorie Lodwick will be the speaker for the service.

Miss Stirn, 76, of Manning, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 18, 1994, at Manning Plaza.

Born December 16, 1917, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was a daughter of Oscar W. and Clara (Gierhahn) Stirn. She was severely physically disabled from birth and was cared for at home until the age of 12, when she began living in nursing homes. Her mother died when she was very young, and her step-mother, Alva (Hockett) Stirn, became important to her.

Her physical disabilities did not impair Miss Stirn's mental capacities. She was a member of the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts.

When the Roy Baum Home in Geneva, Illinois, was discontinued, Miss Stirn became a resident of Manning Plaza. Her parents lived in Manning during their retirement, and Miss Stirn continued to live at the Plaza after their deaths.

Survivors include a half-brother, Nick Stirn and his wife, Margi, of Naperville, Illinois; two nieces, Sarah Hoepper and Susan Conibear; one grand-niece; and one grand-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-mother.
