Last Rites Held For Mrs. Helena Stahl, Friday
Helena Paulina Stahl was born in Holstein, Germany, December 4, 1864, and passed away at her home on East Second Street Wednesday morning, May 4, 1938, following an illness of some duration. She was 73 years and 5 months of age.

The deceased was the daughter of Jonas and Helena (Sörensen) Petersen, her father, having passed away when she was a small child. Her mother preceded her in death in 1912.

In the year 1883, Helena came to the United States and settled in Ohio, later moving to Clinton, County; Iowa. Here she was married to Ferdinand Henry Stahl on August 10th, 1897. In 1901, they came to Carroll County and made their home on a farm southeast of Manning. They retired and moved to Manning in 1916 where they lived their surviving years.

On April 7, 1936, the husband, Ferdinand, passed away.

Mrs. Stahl had been in ill health since suffering a stroke a few years ago but the end came suddenly, Wednesday morning.

She is survived by four children and twelve grandchildren. The children are Mrs. John Jessen (Minnie), Low Moor, Iowa; Herbert Stahl, Mrs. Henry Grimm (Florence), and Labert Stahl of Manning. She also leaves a brother, Ben Petersen of Port Clinton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by one brother and a sister and two children, Caroline and Ferdinand.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home with Rev. E.J. Hough of the Presbyterian Church at Shenandoah, officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. As pallbearers were John Opperman, James Mundt, Julius Wehrmann, John Reetz, Hans Dethlefsen, Fred Ross.
