Funeral rites for Herbert Schade, 70, former Manning resident, were held on January 26 at Rock Island, Illinois. He died January 24, 1968, at the home of his son in Rock Island. He is survived by two sons, both living in Rock Island, four grandsons and a granddaughter.

Herbert Schade Funeral Rites Set Tomorrow
Funeral services for Herbert L. Schade, 70, who resided with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Schade, 3851 27th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois, and who died at 12:51 yesterday afternoon in Moline Public Hospital following an extended illness, will be conducted at 2 tomorrow afternoon in the Hodgson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald N. Wolkenhauer, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, East Moline, Illinois.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Schade was born September 9, 1897 in Manilla, Iowa, a son of Henry and Sophie (Grage) Schade. He received his education in Iowa schools and had resided in Rock Island the past 40 years.

He was a service station operator for Midway Oil Company, Rock Island, for 17 years, retiring in 1962.

He married Selma Derner in 1920. She died in 1924. He later married Gertrude Steckman in July 1926. She died in April 1955.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons, Clifford and Herbert, both of Rock Island and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
