In March of 2026, a lady from Colorado, found my web page
and e-mailed me about several postcards she purchased at a flea market, and was
curious who Hilda Miller was. She graciously decided to give those postcards to
Manning for preservation here. After featuring a postcard on my web page, one of my Manning
helpers searched census records and found the critical clues needed for me to
connect many of this family's pieces of their puzzle.
Here is one of the postcards. Now the last name is Muller in this case but was Miller on all of the other cards.
An interesting situation, which was not all that uncommon is that her paternal grandfather's
last name was "Müller" which can be spelled Mueller when the umlaut is dropped.
Phonetically, Müller can sound similar to Miller, so Hilda's dad may have just
decided to spell it Miller, or there may have been another Fred "Müller in
the community he was born and originally raised…all of this is conjecture but
is a lesson for all historians and genealogists that names were changed quite
often so you may be searching for the wrong name or found a name that seemed to
match but was spelled differently, but was actually one in the same person you were looking for.

I'm occasionally adding the actual scanned image of the obituary I make using my VERY expensive - large commercial scanner,
and/or also other articles about the deceased person that were published in the Manning Monitor.
I want to also comment about people who are taking my obituaries, pictures, and/or other articles about a person/family and posting them on other websites.
You do NOT have permission or the right to do this - you are stealing my historical work.
Buy your own scanning equipment, pay for memberships to other commercial websites,
and spend decades working on your local history like I have - then you'll understand why I'm making these comments!
Thank you for your attention to this matter - Dave Kusel
