Miss Martin passed away Monday evening, October 11, 1937, at seven-thirty at the home of her niece, Edna (Mrs. Rudolph H.) Kuhl on Fifth Street. She had been in poor health for some time and had been bedfast for about two months.
Daughter of John and Jane (Roy) Martin, the deceased was born at Avon, Iowa, on September 29, 1861. In 1884, she came west and had made her home in this vicinity ever since.
She has kept house in Carroll, Atlantic, Manning, and Audubon. While Father O'Malley was in Manning she kept house for him.
Miss Martin leaves one sister, Emma (Mrs. Charles A.) Pardee of Audubon, and a brother, Michael F. Martin of Walnut, besides a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was a sister of Louise (Mrs. Robert J. Coomes, the mother of Mrs. Kuhl.
Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Julius Wehrmann, Arthur Eden, Harry Reinholdt, Robert Zerwas, George Brady, and Francis Brennan.
A number of relatives and friends from out of town attended
the funeral. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.
