Jayne McEnany Dies After Long Illness
April 28, 1938, Manning Monitor

Funeral services for Jayne Eldora Barbara McEnany were conducted by Rev. Father Montag of Templeton at the Sacred Heart Church here Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. She passed away at St. Anthony's hospital at Carroll on Saturday morning.
Jayne, the daughter of William McEnany, and Caroline (Hansen) McEnany, was born in Manning January 3, 1920. She had suffered from a rare disease, brochiectasis, since about four months old when she suffered a severe siege of whooping cough.
The greater share of her life was spent here but she lived for a short time in Coon Rapids and in Nebraska. She left Manning High School in her junior year in April 1937 - she and her mother went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in an effort to restore her health.
About four months ago they returned to Manning. She was taken seriously ill April 10 and on April 13 was taken to the Carroll hospital.
She passed away at the age of 18 years, 3 months and 20 days.
She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Church. Although a constant sufferer, she never complained.

The Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement and burial was in Iowa Township Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Farrell, George Grimm, Wilson Stangl, Barney Stangl, Ralph Hagedorn and Woodrow Reinholdt.

Survivors include her mother, her father, who arrived Monday morning from Albuquerque, New Mexico, a brother, Francis, stationed at Honolulu, and probably on his way to China at the present, her aged grandfather, Adolph Hansen, four uncles, five aunts, twelve cousins and seven step-cousins.

Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral were: Peter McEnany, Sloan; Patrick McEnany, H.G. Brocka, Parkersburg, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Hansen of Springfield, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Miller and daughter, Audubon; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Farrell and son Wayne, Mrs. Albert Schoening, daughter Edna, Mrs. Emer Loneman, Mrs. Bert Rungle, Mrs. Roy Farrell, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Farrell, all of Carroll; Clarence Rassmussen, Atlantic; Mrs. Harvey Wood, Mrs. Alice Bohall, Ottawa; Mrs. Eddie Roberts, Mrs. Tony Tigges of Coon Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. George Ditto, daughter Dorothy; Mr. and Mrs. Doliver Zinky, Mrs. Meta Kusel, of Audubon; and Miss Florence Martin of Sloan, Iowa.

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown us during the illness and at the death of our beloved daughter and sister, Jayne. We wish also to thank those who sent floral offerings, the choir for the music, and all those who in any way lessened our sorrow.
Mr. and Mrs. William McEnany and son Francis.

I'm occasionally adding the actual scanned image of the obituary I make using my VERY expensive - large commercial scanner, and/or also other articles about the deceased person that were published in the Manning Monitor.
I want to also comment about people who are taking my obituaries, pictures, and/or other articles about a person/family and posting them on other websites.
You do NOT have permission or the right to do this - you are stealing my historical work.
Buy your own scanning equipment, pay for memberships to other commercial websites, and spend decades working on your local history like I have - then you'll understand why I'm making these comments!

Thank you for your attention to this matter - Dave Kusel
