Funeral services will be at p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church here, Pastor John M. Ansorge will officiate. Friends may view the body at the Ohde Funeral Home until the time of the rites. The casket will not be opened at the church.
Dr. Sinn had practiced dentistry in the same office here following his graduation from Northwestern Dental College at Evanston, Illinois, in 1902. He retired a short time ago.
A leader in civic affairs, Dr. Sinn had served on the board of education of the Manning Public Schools for 16 years and had been a member of the first city park commission for 12 years.
He had helped organize the Manning Chamber of Commerce and had founded the Manning Lions Club. He had served as vice-president of the Manning Trust & Savings Bank.
Dr. Sinn had been a member of the Masonic Lodge more than 55 years. He was a charter member of the Golf and Country Club.
Jens Johannes Sinn was born in Süderstapel, Holstein, Germany, March 28, 1875. He received his primary education at Hamburg.
In September 1891, he came to the United States from Germany, locating at Walnut, Iowa. Later, he entered Northwestern University.
He was married to Louise Widmann of Waterloo, May 18, 1904. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary May 18, 1954.
Dr. Sinn is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Allen M. (Elizabeth) MacLaughlin, Davenport; Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Erwin, Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Phillip (Arlien) Norman, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; two sons, Karl Sinn, Davenport, and Amos Sinn, Schleswig; and 10 grandchildren, David and John MacLaughlin, James, Stephen, Lou, and Jerry Erwin, Jon and Ricky Norman, and Marlon and Lindsay Sinn.
Also reared by Dr. and Mrs. Sinn are two nieces, Mrs. Raye (Wilma) Hohenstein of New London, Connecticut; and Mrs. Don (Eleanor) Hay of Washington, D.C.
Dr. Sinn was preceded in death by two children, Alma and Hildegard.
