John J. Schroeder funeral held on Wednesday.
Funeral services for John J. Schroeder, 87, were held on Wednesday, December 18 at 2:00 at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev Lester Moore of the Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers were William Puck, Arthur Rix, Dr. Merlin Kunkel, Herman Ehlers, Harold Reinke, and George Fischer. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery.

Son of Henry and Wiebke Schroeder, he was born on March 25, 1876, at Bryant, Clinton County.

On March 7, 1903, he married Hattie Opperman, and the couple farmed south of Manning. In 1914 they moved to Manning, where Mr. Schroeder operated a garage. Later he had a plumbing and hardware business.

Mrs. Schroeder died on March 1, 1958. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charlie and a sister, Mrs. Chris (Anna) Ehrichs.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Bertha Ehrichs, Norfolk, Nebraska, Nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schroeder died early Monday, December 16 at the Mental Health Institute in Clarinda.
