Funeral services for Lawrence Peter Petersen were held
Friday, April 22, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa.
Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Margaret Backhaus as vocalist
and Paula Weiss, organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Tom
Schilling, Randall Lange, Rick Petersen, Don Lange, Scott Lange and Jeff Kirsch serving as casketbearers.
Lawrence, son of Soren P. and Karen (Christoffersen) Petersen, was born December 19, 1903, in Douglas Township, Audubon County, Iowa. He attended country school in Douglas Township. On December 18, 1929, Lawrence was united in marriage with Anna Porsch in Audubon County. They farmed all their lives in Audubon County.
Lawrence retired from farming in 1975 and in June of 1984 he moved to the Elm Crest Apartments in Manning.
Lawrence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Lawrence died Tuesday evening, April 19, 1988 at Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa, at the age of 84 years and 4 months.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife; and by the following brothers and sisters: Meta Loft, Hans Petersen, Andrew Petersen, Carl Petersen, and Elbina Petersen.
Lawrence is survived by his children: Dorothy and her husband, Ross Lange, of Des Moines and Ivan Petersen and his wife, JoAnn, of Manning; by six grandchildren: Linda Schilling, Don Lange, Randall Lange, Scott Lange, Rick Petersen, and Jeanine Petersen; by 7 great-grandchildren; and by the following brothers and sisters: Alfred Petersen of Audubon; Chris Petersen of Audubon; Eleanora Bryant of Jefferson; and Alice Hansen of Omaha.
