Mr. Qualley was born in Ridgeway June 10, 1901, son of Gilbert and Amelia (Olsen) Qualley, and had lived in Vale, Charter Oak, and Manning, before moving to Des Moines. He was principal in the Vale, Charter Oak, and Manning Schools, and was a counselor at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School here until he retired in 1966.
He was a graduate of Luther College and received his M.A degree from the University of Iowa. He earned his accreditation as a counselor from Iowa State University.
He as the president of the Des Moines Area Council on Aging and was the administrator of the Polk County Board of Education's High School Equivalency program. He was a past president of the Polk County Education Association, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Phi Delta Kappa honorary educational fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Hall); two daughters, Suzanne of El Centro, California; and Mrs. Mary King of Hinsdale, Illinois; two brothers, Orlando of Decorah, Iowa, and Gotfred of Willmar, Minnesota; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John's
Lutheran Church building fund and to the Council on Aging.

LAWRENCE QUALLEY
Lawrence E. Qualley, 69, of 7214 Reite Avenue, retired longtime teacher and
administrator in the Des Moines Public Schools, died of a heart attack Thursday
in Tucson, Arizona, where he and Mrs. Qualley were vacationing.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Mr. Qualley was
chairman of the lies Moines Council on the Aging.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Seth S. King of
Hinsdale, Illinois, and Sue Qualley, a speech therapist in the public schools
of El Centro, California, and three grandchildren.

DORIS QUALLEY
Doris Hall Qualley, 100, of Brewster, Massachusetts, died Sunday at Brewster Senior
Care Center from complications of a stroke and Alzheimer's disease. Graveside
services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Mrs. Qualley was born in Ceresco, Nebraska, and lived 49 years in Des Moines
before moving to Brewster in 1986. While in Des Moines, she taught at Capital
City Commercial College and later served as executive secretary for the Iowa
Federation of Women's Clubs. She had been a member of St. John's Lutheran
Church, Des Moines Women's Club and Broadlawns Hospital Guild.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary King of Brewster and Suzanne of Grand
Terrace, California; a sister, Ruth Richards of Sacramento, California; two
brothers, Frank Hall of Beloit, Wisconsin, and Rodney Hall of Lakewood, Colorado;
three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
