Mr. Schumann, 95, died Sunday, September 1, 1996, at Manning Plaza, his home the last two years.

Pastor Robert Riggert and Pastor Curt Dwyer will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Walt Lage, Johnnie Stender, Darrell Snyder, Kenneth Knudson, Jeff Sievertsen, and Larry Hansen. Honorary casket bearers will be Louie Gehlsen, Alfred Dammann, Don Luensmann, Johnny Frees, Harold Schroeder, Jay Bahnsen, John Bahnsen, and Alvan Hansen.

Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.

He was born September 11, 1900, on a farm near Westside, a son of John and Emilie (Ewoldt) Schumann, and attended rural' school. Mr. Schumann helped his father farm and eventually operated it with him and a brother, Louis.

He and Edna Plahn were married October 12, 1927. They settled on the Schumann family farm.

In addition to farming, Mr. Schumann drove a bus for the Westside and later Ar-We-Va schools for 32 years.

The Schumanns moved to Manning in 1969. Mr. Schumann worked as custodian at Manning General Hospital for 11 years.

The Schumanns moved into Manning Plaza in 1994.

Mr. Schumann is survived by his wife, Edna, of Manning and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Louis and Edwin Schumann and three sisters: Elsie Schroeder, Elizabeth Snyder, and Laura Bahnsen.
