A son of Oscar Martin and Leona Anna Emilie (Monter) Warner, he was born February 18, 1934, on a farm near Holbrook, Nebraska, baptized March 18, 1934, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe and confirmed there June 1, 1947. He attended rural school near the Warner family farm and later attended a Lutheran school in Arapahoe before graduating from Holbrook High School in 1951. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He and Darlene Decker were married October 14, 1955. They had five children. The Warners resided south of Holbrook until 1960 when they purchased a home in Holbrook. Mr. Warner continued farming until 1964 when he took a job as district manager for Archer Petroleum Co. This led the family to Culbertson, which was located in the center of his territory. In 1967, he moved the family to Manning and continued with Archer for several years. He then started driving truck, mostly for agricultural businesses. He moved back to Nebraska in 1985 and continued to drive truck there.

Mr. Warner enjoyed planting and caring for flowers. When his health began to fail in 2000, he returned to Manning to be near his children. After a short stay in the hospital in August 2003, he moved to Manning Plaza.
