Mrs. Maggie Opperman
Funeral services for Mrs. Magdalena "Maggie" Opperman, 84, were held Monday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. W.P. Gauer of the Manning Methodist Church, officiating.

Mrs. Opperman was born in Hamburg, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, August 21, 1868, the daughter of Wilken and Magdelena (Moeller) Karsten. She died at her home northwest of Manning Friday, January 2, 1953, following a lengthy illness. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Lena (Mrs. Fred) Ranniger of Carroll; two sons, Rudy at home and Emil of Manning; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Henry Karsten of Manning; and three sisters; Katie (Mrs. Herman) Rowedder of Aspinwall, Emma (Mrs. Walter) Laurinat of Manning, and Mary (Mrs. Gustav) Vinke of Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1951, and a sister, Mamie Schmidt, in 1952 and by the following brothers: John, Claus, August, and Emil.
