Magnus C. Wellendorf
Magnus C. Wellendorf was born on March 16, 1909, on the family farm in Hayes Township, Ida County, Iowa, the son of Emil and Mary (Brockmann) Wellendorf; and died on Friday, May 1, 1992, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of 83 years. Burial was in Morgan Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa.

Magnus was baptized as an infant and later confirmed at the Friedens Evangelical Church in Schleswig, Iowa. He attended country school and the Ida Grove Community School. After his education he farmed with his parents on the family farm in Hayes Township in Ida County.

On January 6, 1932, Magnus was united in marriage to Erma Henningsen of Schleswig, at the Friedens Evangelical parsonage in Schleswig. Together they settled on a farm south of Vail in Hayes Township, Crawford County, where they made their home for the past sixty years. To this union one daughter, Ruth was born.

Magnus was a loving and caring husband and father who worked hard providing for his family. He loved farming and fishing and working with wood. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.

Magnus was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Ruth Walde who died November 12, 1989; and one brother, Fred.

He is survived by his wife, Erma; one son-in-law, Leonard Walde of Vail; two sisters, Ella Schelldorf of Holstein, Iowa, and Iona Thraen and her husband, Laverne of Omaha, Nebraska; also one brother, Elmer Wellendorf of Deloit; other relatives and many friends.
