Marie Anna (Hausmann) Wittrock was born May 25, 1858, in Germany, to Peter and Maria (Olbertz) Hausmann. She died August 17, 1937, and is buried in Saint Augustine Cemetery, Halbur, Iowa.

Mrs. M. Wittrock Of Halbur Dies Saturday Morning
End Came At 11:40 After Illness of Two And A Half Weeks
Mrs. Marie Wittrock, 79, died at 11:40 o'clock Saturday morning, August 17,
1937, at her home in Halbur. Her death was caused by a stroke which she
suffered two and one-half weeks ago. She had been bedfast since that time.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
Mrs. Wittrock leaves 123 descendants, including 12 children, 95 grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children.
BORN IN GERMANY
Mrs. Wittrock was born Marie Hausmann, daughter of Peter and Katherine Hausmann, May 25, 1858, at
Soeven, Rhine Province, Germany. She was a girl of ten when
she came to America with her parents who located on a farm near Mendota,
Illinois. After living there for seven years, they moved to a farm east of Halbur.
On November 29, 1877, at Holy Angels Church, Roselle, she married Claus Wittrock. They established their home on a farm one mile west of Roselle, later moving to a farm one mile south of Halbur, where they were living when Mr. Wittrock died on November 19, 1906.
For the last nine years Mrs. Wittrock had lived in her home at Halbur.
Mrs. Wittrock belonged to St. Augustine's Church and to the Rosary Sodality of the parish.
14 CHILDREN
She was the mother of 14 children; two of whom have
passed away. Mrs. Henry Langel (Margaret) died October 4, 1925, and Mary died 41 years ago.
The surviving sons and daughters are Henry Wittrock, Orchard Park, New York; Joseph Wittrock, Milford; William Wittrock, Fonda; John Wittrock, Milford; Mrs. Henry Janning (Kate), Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; Mrs. Theodore Eischeid (Anna), August Wittrock, Frank Wittrock, Mrs. Henry Potthoff (Clementine), and Mrs. Joe Bluml (Frances), Halbur; George Wittrock, Templeton; and Charles Wittrock, Roselle.
Mrs. Wittrock was the last of a family of five children. One sister; Mrs. Elizabeth Eich died less than a month ago, March 22, 1937, and another sister, Mrs. Christina Koenig, died July 8, 1921. A brother Chris Hausmann, passed away about two years ago, and another brother died while the family lived in Germany.
