The deceased was well known in Manning, having lived here for a number of years with her husband who was the town's first jeweler. He was in business here for twenty-seven years. He was in the Barber Drug Store for some time; later with John Lewis & Herman Grau, then John Lewis-August Reinhold and for some time in business for himself. The Metzgers lived in their own home on Center Street.
Because of ill health, they moved to Omaha in 1921, Mr. Metzger passing away there in 1925. Her only brother, Seigebart Kahn, died six years ago.
Elsie Fried, a niece, came from Germany and made her home with Mrs. Metzger in Omaha. Last fall they moved to Brooklyn.
While in Manning both Mr. and Mrs. Metzger were prominent in civic and social affairs. Mrs. Metzger was a member of the Manning Woman's Club and Eastern Star.
The body was shipped to Omaha for burial in the Pleasant
Hill Cemetery with her husband and her brother.

Mrs. Metzger Dies in Brooklyn
Mrs. Mathilda Metzger, who died in Brooklyn, New York, February 12, 1938, and
was buried at Omaha Friday, was a former Manning resident. She and her husband.
William, lived here twenty-seven years and Mr. Metzger was Manning first jeweler.

RESIDENT Of CITY FOR PAST 35 YEARS DIES
Seigbert Kahn, 60, of 3215 California Street, died
suddenly Monday night, April 24, 1933, of a stroke at home. He resided with his
sister, Mathilda (Mrs. William) Metzger. Kahn formerly operated a loan agency
here and had been also in the life insurance and real estate business.
He lived in Omaha 35 years and was a native of Germany, born April 11, 1873.
Surviving are two other sisters in Germany. Funeral services will be held
Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hulse & Riepen Mortuary. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
