Nicholas L. Miller
Funeral services for Nick Miller, 55, of Des Moines,
formerly of Bagley, will be 11:00am Monday at Slininger-Rossow
Funeral Home, Jefferson. Interment will be at Dodge Twp Cemetery, Guthrie County, Iowa.
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in
Jefferson after 5pm Sunday. The family will be present at the funeral home to
greet friends between 6:00 - 8:00pm Sunday.
Nicholas Leroy Miller was born August 11, 1949, in Manning,
Iowa. He was the son of Ernest Leroy “Barney” Miller and A. Theo Johnson Miller.
As a child, Nick attended the Methodist Church in Bagley. He graduated from YJB
High School, then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1969,
Nick enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1973.
Nick began working at Bankers Life in 1974. Nick spent 32 years with the
company, which is now the Principal Group.
Nick was an avid fan of Nascar, with Mark Martin being his favorite driver.
Nick was also a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Nick Miller died October 7, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines. He was 55 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents; and grandparents Nick and Mae Miller, and Joe and Elizabeth Johnson.
Survivors include his companion, Garry McGee of Des Moines; a sister, Liz Lingner and her husband Larry of Bagley; nieces Angel and her husband Pat, Linda and her husband Rod, nephews Rodney and his wife Shari, Delbert and his wife Cheryl, Troy, and Kevin and his wife Gina; great nieces and nephews: Amanda, Joey, Jacob, Jeni, Daniel, Greggory, Sabrina, Seth, Nick, Ryley, Landon, Emily, and Hanna, other relatives and friends.
