Mr. Sievers had apparently been in good health. He had walked to the City Park Monday, which was a daily custom. He had gone to bed shortly after supper that evening.
A son of Peter and Anette (Fresse) Sievers, Mr. Sievers was born April 17, 1864, in Schleswig Holstein, Germany. He came to the United States with his father and sister in 1869. They settled in Tama, County, Iowa, moving from there to Nebraska.
In 1888, Mr. Sievers was married to Anna Ruge. They came to Carroll County in the following year and located on a farm south of Manning. They had 10 children, five of whom died in infancy, Mrs. Sievers died in 1904. In 1915, Mr. Sievers was married to Augusta Claussen. They lived on the same farm south of Manning for several years before moving to Arcadia. Mr. Sievers' second wife died in 1946. He had lived with his daughter, Amanda, the last seven and one-half years.
Surviving with his daughter, Amanda, are a son, Herman, Coon Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Frieda) Pulver, Harlan; 12 grandchildren, and 34 grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Charles (Rosa) Stribe died in 1944 and a daughter, Theresa, in 1949.
