Peter Waller, Pioneer Resident, Rites Here Today
We present herewith: the obituary of Mr. Peter Waller who passed away at his home on Center Street, following a brief illness of about two months. Previous to that time Mr. Waller had been a man, of very good health. He was a man of clean and manly habits; of a quiet disposition, and enjoyed the respect of the entire community.

Mr. Waller was born February 13, 1859, in Langenmoor, Holstein, Germany, where he was educated and spent his childhood days and grew to young manhood. In 1874, he came to America, settling near Davenport where he lived engaged in farming until 1886 when he moved to Obrien County, Iowa. After two years of farming in Obrien County, he came to Audubon County where he farmed six years, moving from there to a farm near Botna, in Shelby County where he lived for 25 years.

In 1919, he moved to Manning, purchasing a fine home on Center Street, where he has resided since.

Mr. Waller was united in holy wedlock to Miss Christine Asmus on December 18, 1885, and on December 18, 1935, they had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in a large circle of relatives and close friends.

To this union three children were born, namely: Amanda, Mrs. William Held of Waterloo, Anna, Mrs. Hugo Grau of Earling, Iowa; and John Waller of Bennett, Iowa, who are all left to mourn the death of their father, besides the bereaved widow and mother. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Magdalene Meyers of Davenport, six grandchildren, and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Lutheran Church of which congregation he was a member. Pastor John M. Ansorge officiated. Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery and as pall bearers acted, Carl Hagedorn, Frank W. Pruter, Chris Hollander, John L. Hansen, John A. Peters, and William Nulle.

I'm occasionally adding the actual scanned image of the obituary I make using my VERY expensive - large commercial scanner, and/or also other articles about the deceased person that were published in the Manning Monitor.
I want to also comment about people who are taking my obituaries, pictures, and/or other articles about a person/family and posting them on other websites.
You do NOT have permission or the right to do this - you are stealing my historical work.
Buy your own scanning equipment, pay for memberships to other commercial websites, and spend decades working on your local history like I have - then you'll understand why I'm making these comments!

Thank you for your attention to this matter - Dave Kusel
