PHILIP SIGNALL
Philip Signall, 76, retired employe of the Green Bay Lumber Company, died at 1:15 Saturday morning, September 20, 1958, at his home, 614 North West Street, after six years of ill health. He had been seriously ill the last several weeks.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P.T. Lynch offering requiem mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carroll, Iowa.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sharp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Msgr. Lynch will lead the recitation Sunday night.

Mr. Signall, son of Edward and Anne (McCann) Signall, was born August 20, 1882, at Manning, where he was graduated from high school in 1900.

He taught a rural school in the Manning vicinity for two years before being employed by the Green Bay Lumber Company as manager at Tennant and Herring.

He then went into the farming and livestock buying business at Manning until 1920, when he returned to the Green Bay employ in Manning. He was transferred by the company to Carroll in 1932, continuing his employment until he retired in December 1952.

Mr. Signall was married to Katherine Muxen February 17, 1909, at St. Joseph's Church in Wall Lake, with the Rev. Fr. Daley officiating.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Howard Signall, Pasadena, California; four daughters, Mrs. Reuben (Eileen) Stone and Mrs. Joe (Florence) Scharfenkamp, Carroll; Mrs. Harold (Phyllis) Shanahan, Hopewell, Virginia; and Mrs. Wilmer (Marita) Schelle, Breda; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Lynch, Manning; and 14 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Signall would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February 1959.

Seven brothers and one sister preceded Mr. Signall in death.

Phil Signalls Observe Their 49th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Signall, who were married February 17, 1909, served their 49th wedding anniversary at their home, 614 North West Street, Sunday and Monday.
Relatives and other friends called at the residence both days. Refreshments were served.
A plant was given to Mr. and Mrs. Signall by neighbors and other friends. They were presented with gifts by their children and other relatives.
Mrs. Harold Shanahan and daughter, Katie, of Omaha, came Saturday and spent Sunday with the Signalls. Mrs. Shanahan is one of their daughters.

Philip Signall's Birthday Noted
Neighbors and other friends called throughout the afternoon Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Signall to honor Mr. Signall on his 76th birthday anniversary.
Refreshments were served from a table decorated with a birthday cake, candles and a blooming plant, which was a gift from neighbors and other friends.
Attending from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Signall's daughter, Mrs. Harold Shanahan, and her daughter, Katie, of Hopewell, Virginia, Mrs. Mary Loeltz and Mrs. Robert McQuirk and son Philip, of Wall Lake.
Mr. Signall was presented with gifts.
