Raymond E. Sander, 78, of Manning, died Wednesday, January 4, 1984, at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home.
Before his retirement in the early 1970s, he was a partner in the ownership of Kuhl & Vogt Hardware Store.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7, at First Presbyterian church in Manning with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and congregation with Connie Siepker as accompanist. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, will be in the Manning Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Merlene Thompson, Bill Sander, Lyle Joens, Charles Moore, Dr. Walter Felker, and Frank Vetter.
Mr. Sander is survived by a daughter, Faith, and her husband Ron Schroeder, West Des Moines; two grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann and John Brian Schroeder; a brother, Roy Sander and his wife, Leona, Audubon; a sister-in-law, Erna Sander, Manning; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Roger Ray, in infancy in 1940, and a brother, Herb Sander.
Mr. Sander was born October 28, 1905, at Manning, a son of William E. and Emma (Wegner) Sander. He graduated from Manning High School in 1923.
On August 19, 1929, he was married to Golda M. Moore. They lived in Manning all their lives. She died on May 12, 1982. He had been in failing health for several months before his death.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where a memorial fund has been established.
