Dr. R.W. Place

Dr. Realtus Winch Place, 82, retired physician and surgeon, died Friday evening, March 31, 1939, at his residence, 800 South Sixth Street, from influenza.

Dr. Place practiced over fifty years in Iowa and South Dakota, retiring in 1934, when he moved to Council Bluffs. He was graduated from the Drake University Medical School in 1884 and practiced in Buchanan and Calhoun Counties in Iowa.

In 1934, Dr. and Mrs. Place also celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. He was a member of Quasqueton, Iowa, Masonic Lodge.

Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Nellie (Bardoner) Place; three sons: Dean and Archie Place of Council Bluffs, and Everett Place of Farmington, Iowa; a brother, Elmer Place, of Albion, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body is at Woodring Funeral Home, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Son of Thomas and Mary (Winch) Place, he was born in 1856, in Delaware County, Iowa.
