Funeral services for Regilda C. Witt were held Sunday, June 5, 1988, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Larry Genzen as vocalist and Paula Weiss, organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Wayne Witt, Lester Genzen, Dale Ehlers, Gary Witt, Bob Hinners, and Rod Ehlers serving as casketbearers.
Regilda, daughter of William and Margaret (Martens) Witt, was born May 16, 1900, on a farm near Arcadia, Iowa. The family moved to a farm north of Manning when Regilda was a youth; she attended country schools. Regilda stayed on the farm after her parents' deaths and made her home with her brother, Erwin. In 1969 Regilda and her brother moved to Manning. Regilda had been in failing health this winter and spring and entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where she was a resident for a very brief time. She died there late Friday morning, June 3, 1988, at the age of 88 years and 18 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, Arnold Witt and her sister, Edna Witt, as well as a nephew, Dennis Witt.
Regilda is survived by two brothers: Erwin Witt and Herbert Witt and his wife, Beulah, all of Manning; by a sister-in-law, Florence Witt of Carroll; and by the following nieces and nephews: Phyllis Vanderloo of Des Moines; Wayne Witt of Carroll; Gary Witt of Manning; and Karen Jaber of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Regilda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and of the Zion ladies organization. She also held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary.
