ROSA SOPHIA STEEN
Daughter of Hans and Christina (Hagedorn) Ehlers, Rosa Sophia Steen, was born December 3, 1871, at Lost Nation, Clinton County, Iowa. She married Henry Steen in 1890. The couple farmed north of Manning for several years, then south of town. They retired in 1920, traveling for several years, and making their home in Lake View for one year. In 1925, they purchased a home in Manning. Mr. Steen died in 1938.

They were the parents of five children, four of whom survive: Emil, Grover and Edward, and Mrs. Stoelk (Amanda), all of Manning. She also leaves three grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Emil and Louie Ehlers of Manning.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Ida, in 1892.

Mrs. Steen, 88, died early Saturday morning February 13, 1960, at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stoelk, in Manning, with whom she had lived for sixteen years.

Funeral services were held at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning at 2:00 Tuesday, February 16, with Rev. F.C. Volzke of the Manilla Presbyterian Church officiating. Ray Pratt was soloist for the service; Bonita (Mrs. Henry W.) Hagedorn, organist. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.
