Miss Schwiesow was born May 12, 1885, in Crawford County, a daughter of John and Bertha (Wenzel) Schwiesow. At the age of three years, she lost her hearing and voice as a result of illness. She attended school in Council Bluffs and one year in Detroit, Mich. She received instruction in the Lutheran faith from the Rev. E. Mappes. Omaha Lutheran missionary for the deaf. She made her home with her parents; and they moved to Aspinwall in 1913. Miss Schwiesow cared for her invalid mother for 25 years before her death in 1939. Since 1936, she had lived with her sister, Mrs. Schroeder, and spent part of the time in Manning with her brother, Walter Schwiesow.
Preceding her in death was her father in 1936; her mother, four brothers, and three sisters.
Surviving besides her sister, Mrs. Schroeder (Marie), and brother, Walter, are six nieces and nephews.
