Former S.D. Teacher Dies From Sleeping Sickness
The body of Ruth (Mrs. Frank R.) Stribe, early teacher of Brule and Buffalo Counties, was taken to her home in Hartley, Iowa, for services, following her death from sleeping sickness at the Chamberlain, South Dakota, Sanitarium, June 1, 1931. She was a patient at the hospital for about six weeks.

Daughter of John and Tabitha (Ham) Barber, she was born in 1861. She was the third wife of Frank Stribe, married in 1915.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

Mrs. Stribe was a sister of Mrs. F.A. Reynolds, Chamberlain, Mrs. James Brown, Pierre, and the step-mother of Mrs. John Gilbert, White Lake.

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Frank Stribe, an aunt of David and L.D. Robinson. She was a resident of Iowa. Death was caused by sleeping sickness.
