Sandi Nemitz
Sandra "Sandi" Lee, daughter of Gordon and Madlyn (Cramer) Younie was born January 17th, 1951, in Manning, Iowa. She attended school in Manilla, graduating with the class of 1969. On November 26th, 1969, Sandi was united in marriage to Donald Lee Nemitz at Zion Lutheran Chapel in Denison. Three children, Jeff, Chris and Erin, were born to this union.

In August of 1975, Sandi began working at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, first as a unit clerk and later as a certified pharmacy tech. Sandi retired from the hospital in early 2006, when she and Don moved to Ankeny. She then worked at a medical clinic, and later at a pharmacy fulfillment center in Des Moines. After working over 40 years in the healthcare field, she retired in 2017.

Sandi loved sports, more specifically the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and football team. She also loved music, especially playing the piano, organ, and flute. Sandi relished time with her children and grandchildren, and looked forward to family dinners, school performances and just catching up. She also cherished her marriage to Don, and the two had never spent more than 3 days apart in their nearly 52 years together. Sandi had a great sense of humor and was never short a sarcastic comment. She also had the kindest heart and never failed to give an affectionate or thoughtful word or compliment to those around her.

In July of 2021 Sandi suffered a stroke, but was able to be cared for at home under the tremendous devotion and support given by Don. Sadly, she suffered a second stroke two months later, this one from which she would not recover. Sandi passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the age of 70 years.

Sandi is survived by her loving husband Don, and her three children Jeff and Chris Nemitz, and Erin (Shawn) Wiebelhaus of Ankeny; four grandchildren Morgan and Aubrey Wiebelhaus, and Elizabeth and Benjamin Nemitz; brother Randy (Mila) Younie of Woodbine; cousins Kathy (Larry) Clement of Sioux Falls, Martha (Dean) Holtorf of Pomeroy, and Paul Younie of Cherokee; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, and aunts Audrey (LaVerne) Olsen and Pauline (George) Graves.
