Last Rites Held Mrs. Mrs. Alonzo Scott, 58
Funeral services for Mrs. Sophie Scott, 58, were held in the Ohde Funeral Home at two o'clock, Sunday, June 28 with the Rev. Greenwood of the Harlan Methodist Church in charge. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Casket bearers were Frank Hass, Hugo Ewoldt, Edward Arenholtz, Ben Jones, Albert Olson, Andrew Jensen.

Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Martha (Mrs. Nick C.) Schrum, Emma (Mrs. Albert) Dietz, Herman C. Pahde, and Arthur Rix.

Mrs. Scott had been ill about two weeks. She was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Friday, June 20th and passed away there, Wednesday, June 24th. On Tuesday evening, the sickness Which took her to the hospital seemed improved and everyone felt that she would recover. A heart attack caused her death about 7 o'clock Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Scott was born Sophia Holtz, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Mary Holtz in Atlantic, Iowa, April 10, 1884. When four years of age she came with her parents to Audubon County. Her entire life was spent in this vicinity since then, first living on a farm south of town and then to the one west of town where she lived at the time of her death.

Survivors include her husband, Alonzo, one son, Elwood, who came from Fort Ord, California, to attend rites for his mother, and one daughter, Mrs. Gerald Hockett (Goldie) of Manning, and six sisters, Mrs. Ben Wiley (Lena), and Mrs. W.A. Wiley (Edith), Audubon; Mrs. George Miller (Laura), Manning; Mrs. H.O. Rockrohr (Mathilda), Maquoketa; Mrs. Selma Kingsbury, Davenport; Mrs. William Witt (Mamie), Gray; and one brother, Fred Holtz, Gray.

Two sisters and two brothers, Minnie, Clara, Edward, and William preceded her in death as did her parents.

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. Scott's mother of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Rossman and George Scott, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John Jahnke of Harlan, Mrs. H.O. Rockrohr, Maquoketa, Mrs. Selma Kingsbury, Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holtz, Mr. and Mrs. John Holtz and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Wiley all of Des Moines.
