Mr. T.E. Palmer of Manning is a candidate before the
Democratic County convention for the nomination of Recorder. If there is any
man among the unterrified who has complied with the principles and requirements
of that party more thoroughly and earnestly than he has since he left the
Republican camp about four years ago, that man should be honored by some office
of responsibility. And if there is a class of citizens that should appreciate
Palmer's services it is the Germans. We do not say that Palmer will be a strong
candidate; but that he is deserving of the nomination all Democrats and
Republicans for that matter - will admit. He is apparently in sympathy with all
the doctrines laid down by his party; and it makes no difference whether these
doctrines are in strict violation to the laws of the State or not, you will
find him with his party. The MONITOR thinks he should be given the nomination at tomorrow's convention.
