VELMA MARIE WEBER

Funeral services for Velma Marie Weber were held Thursday, November 30, 1989, at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Sushil Joseph of the United Methodist Church in Manning officiated the service with Judy Joens as vocalist and Connie Siepker as organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with John Lewis Steenhusen, Lyle Joens, Merlin Umland, George Steenhusen, Tom (oung and Willis U ml and as Casketbearers.

Velma, daughter of Henry and Minnie (Rostermundt) Lohmeier, was born July 22, 1921, near Manilla in Crawford County, Iowa. The family moved to Manning where Velma attended school. In the early 1940s Velma went to Chicago at which time she was united in marriage with Edwin Kolman. She spent her entire life in the Chicago area. During the war Velma worked in a steel mill in Gary, Indiana. She was also employed as a waitress.

Velma died unexpectedly Saturday, November 25, 1989, at South Chicago Hospital at the age of 68 years, 4 months, and 3 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Alvin and Raymond Lohmeier.

Velma is survived by her daughter, Wanda Bolton-Smith, of Gig Harbor, Washington; by two grandchildren, Kurt Bolton and his wife, Michelle and Graig Bolton and his wife, Toni; by four great-grandchildren: Krystal, Tonya, Rebecca, and Geoffrey Bolton; by the following brothers and sisters: Skip Lohmeier, of Manning; Bernice and her husband, Jack Hobbs, of Lafayette, Colorado; Ruby Rose, of Anoka, Minnesota; Whitey Lohmeier, and his wife, Marilyn, of Des Moines; and LaVonne and her husband, Reg Watters, of Lake City; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Velma Weber is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
