Funeral services for Verna Louise Wegner were held Saturday, April 27, 1985, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Paul Krumm officiated with Fern Jensen as organist and the Zion Lutheran Quartet provided the music. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Robert Mohr, Randy Mohr, Franklin Mohr, Russell Mohr, Jeff Mohr, and Larry Genzen as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Verna, daughter of Christian and Marie (Nuppnau) Mohr, was born February 2, 1908, at Manning, Iowa. She was raised on a farm and educated in rural and Manning schools. Verna was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
She was united in marriage with Eddie Wegner on January 22, 1930, by Pastor John Ansorge at the Lutheran Parsonage in Manning. Two sons were born to this union: Errol and James. Verna and her husband farmed near Manning. He died on March 9, 1953. Verna moved to Manning in 1954. She worked at Priebe and Sons for several years, and later worked as a cook in the Manning school system. She died unexpectedly at the age of 77 years, 2 months, and 22 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by her sister, Elsie Siem; by three brothers: Emil, George and John P. "Jack" Mohr.
She is survived by two sons, Errol and his wife, Ann, of Manning, and James and his wife, Cheryl, of Grand Island, Nebraska; by five grandchildren: Connie Siepker, Corey, Craig, Kristin and Ryan Wegner; by four great-grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Siepker and Christopher and Jonathan Wegner.
She is also survived by two brothers, Chris Mohr of Council Bluffs and Kenneth Mohr of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and by two sisters: Mrs. Herman (Leona) Asmus of Middletown and Mrs. Fred (Marcella) Asmus of Wilton, Iowa; by the following sisters and brothers-in-law: Christina Mohr of California, Elsie Mohr of Carroll, Mrs. Helen Petersen of Manning, George and Milda Peters of Manning, and Gus Schrum of Manilla; and by many other relatives and friends.
Verna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, of the Lutheran Ladies Guild, and was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Mrs. Verna Louise Wegner, 77, of Manning, died unexpectedly
Wednesday, April 24, 1985, at her home here. She worked for Priebe & Sons
for several years and later was a cook for the Manning Public School system.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Zion Lutheran Church
in Manning with Pastor Paul Krumm officiating. Fern Jensen will be organist and
the church quartet will sing. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral
Home of Manning, will be in the Manning Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will

Mrs. Wegner was born at Manning on February 2, 1908, a daughter of Christian and Marie (Nuppnau) Mohr. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural and Manning Schools. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On January 22,1930, she was married to Eddie Wegner in the
Manning Lutheran parsonage by Pastor John Ansorge. They farmed near Manning. He
died on March 9, 1953, and she moved into Manning the following year. She was a
member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Ladies Guild, and was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
