William Sander, 72, Of Manning, Dies On Christmas Day
William Emil Sander, 72, died yesterday afternoon, December 25, 1946, at the Manning General Hospital. His condition was serious when he was taken to the hospital a few days ago.

Funeral services are to be at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church, with the pastor, the Pastor John M. Ansorge, officiating. The body is at the Ohde Funeral Home.

Mr. Sander, a retired farmer, was born August 11, 1874, at Husum, Germany, son of Johann Christian Sander and Anna Catharina Paulsen. He had lived in Manning many years.

Preceded in death by his wife, Emma (Wegner), he leaves three sons, Roy, Ray and Herbert, all of Manning, one brother, Emil Sander of Manning, and two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Marti, who kept house for him, and Mrs. Andrew Boss, who lives near Des Moines.

Funeral Rites For W.E. Sander Were Held at Manning
Funeral services for William Emil Sander were held Saturday afternoon at the Manning Lutheran Church, with Pastor John M. Ansorge officiating.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Sanders was born August 11, 1874, at Husum, Germany. The family emigrated to the United States and settled at Walnut, Iowa, when Mr. Sander was 13 years old.

He had lived on his present farm place for the past 42 years.

He was married to Emma Wegner, February 15, 1899, in Crawford County.

He died at the Manning General Hospital December 25, 1946, four days after he had been taken seriously ill.

Surviving are three sons: Roy, Raymond, and Herbert Sander, all of Manning; a brother, Emil Sander, Manning; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Boss, Keosaqua, Iowa, and Mrs. Alvina Marti, Manning, who has lived with him since the death of his wife. There are five grandchildren.

Mr. Sander was a member of the Lutheran Church.
