WILLIAM POPP

William Popp, 81, died on Saturday, October 31, 1970, at his home, 1623 Quint Avenue, in Carroll, following a long illness. He was a retired farmer, having farmed near Arcadia for 40 years.

Rites were held on November 3 at the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll, with Rev. Timothy Koenig, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Son of Carl Detlef and Fredricka (Jentzen) Popp, he was born at Manning on February 1, 1889. His marriage to Bertha H. Schluter took place at Arcadia on February 4, 1913. He was confirmed and baptized in the Lutheran faith.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters: Mrs. Leslie (Helen) Sieve, Manning; Mrs. Elmer (Evelyn) Schroeder and Mrs. Edward (Arlene) Holstein, Carroll; three sons, Vernon W. of Boone, Lester of Arcadia; Leonard G. Popp, Denison; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Eich, Manning; Mrs. George (Wilma) Wiese of Schaller, and two brothers, Henry and Louis Popp, both of Manning.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Detlef, Irvin, Otto, and Elmer Popp, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Epsen and Mrs. Esther Bohnsack.
