MAN FOUND DEAD IN CAR ON U.P. AT ROCK RIVER
Laramie, Wyoming, January 25
A man named Bill Nickum, who is believed to have a brother (Isaac Joseph Nickum) at
Sidney, Nebraska, was found dead in the Pacific Fruit Express car at Rock
River, having evidently been asphyxiated with fumes of the charcoal fire
maintained in the car to preserve the contents from the cold. It is believed Nickum
crawled into the care to steal a ride, not realizing the danger from the fumes
from the portable stove. The body was brought to this city and turned over to
Coroner Johnson, who made and official investigation of the circumstances
surrounding the finding of the body. An effort was made to communicate with the brother at Sidney.
