Wayne, son of Herbert and Leona (Grimm) Schroeder, was born May 31,1928. He grew up on a farm west of Manning with two sisters, Marilyn (Schroeder) Jons and Cleone (Schroeder) Podey. Lila Lee Mohr, daughter of Henry and Lillian (Dethlefs) Mohr was born September 12, 1929. She grew up in Manning with three sisters, Marilyn Whited (deceased), Marjorie Whited, Iva Hinze, and one brother, Wade Mohr. Wayne and Lila graduated from Manning High School. They were united in marriage December 28,1948 at the First Presbyterian Church manse in Manning. Wayne and Lila were owners and operator of a trucking business in Manning for 55 years.

Wayne was a member of the Manning Fire Department, life-time member of the Manning Heritage Foundation, as well as an honorary member of the Hayes Township Schuetzen Verein (Five Mile House). Wayne passed away on April 9, 2005.

Lila worked at the J & S Feed Service as a bookkeeper for twenty years. She has been an active member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries. The Governor Volunteer Service Award was presented to her for the many hours of service given to the community. Lila resides in their home at 502 Julia Street in Manning. Wayne and Lila have left quite a legacy. They have three grown daughters: Linda Lee was born October 14, 1950, Susan Rae was born October 27, 1952, and Debra Ann was born December 18, 1953. All their daughters are married and have children. There are a total of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Linda married Gary Anderson. His parents were Lindy and Marilyn Anderson. They were united in marriage in 1973. They have four children: Quinten Nels; twin girls, Carleigh Michael and Kamryn Michelle; and Aubrey Paige. Quinten married Nichole Eagle and Kamryn is married to Justin Krueger. Gary and Linda live in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Susan married Larry Stangl, son of Vernon and Rita Stangl in 1972. They have four children and two granddaughters: Monica Sue married Jason Danner and they have a daughter, Madyln Sue; Andrew Wayne married Carissa Johnson and they have a daughter, Lily Ann; Kristie Marie married Sam Lockhart; and Aaron Francis married Abbey Ranniger. Larry and Susan live six miles north of Manning.

Debra married Daniel Weis. His parents are John (deceased) and Shirley Weis. They were married in Manning in 1976, and have one daughter Sarah Ann. They reside in Peru, Illinois.
