Wrote... My father's family is from Emden in Ostfriesland. This fall I took my two sons to see your Hausbarn and to eat at the new Hausbarn Restaurant. Walking through the hausbarn took me back to the days of my Kiewiet and Dirks ancestors in Germany and helped my sons connect to their German heritage. My father, who grew up speaking "low German," and my brothers and sisters all hope to visit Manning together soon. Thank you for bringing the hausbarn here to America.

Wrote... I was born and raised in Templeton, IA and graduated from SHHS in 1949. Every Saturday night my parents and I went to Manning to shop and visit with friends. Lots of good memories of those times, as well as Children's Day each year. We were in Manning several years ago to visit the grave of my grandfather, Charles Hageman. Many of the Hagemans lived in Audubon, Gray, and Manning. Next Spring relatives are visiting from Washington State and we'll visit then as they want to visit the area.

Their family is the Anton Jensen family--was curious why so many people as they moved to Manning from eastern Iowa--what was the draw?
