To an Educator August 12, 1982 Manning Monitor Duane G. Jansen Associate Professor, Trade and Industrial Education Colorado State University. Duane Jansen is completing his tenth year as a teacher-educator and his sixteenth year in education. Duane began his professional experience as a drafting/woodworking instructor in Manning, Iowa. He moved to Southern State College, Springfield, South Dakota, where he was a, Drafting Instructor and Department Head. In 1972 he started a new position as Teacher Trainer in Vocational Education at the University of South Dakota at Springfield. Two years later he joined the staff at Colorado State University as an Itinerant Teacher Trainer. Since 1975 Duane has been Professor-in-Charge, Trade and Industrial Education, at C.S.U. Duane Jansen has served on numerous committees and assisted with vocational in-service activities throughout Colorado. He has contributed to vocational education in many ways. He has demonstrated concern for trade and technical education, and he has constantly striven for improvement of programs in this state. If there is a special need of a school or a teacher for in-service, class, or other service, Duane has always been willing to help, give suggestions, and get things rolling. Dr. Jansen's professional degrees and. education included: Diploma, Southern State College, Springfield, South Dakota; B.S.Ed., Southern State College, Springfield, South Dakota; M.Ed., Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado; and, Ph.D., Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. The Trade and Industrial Division of the Colorado Vocational Association has been a benefactor of Duane's expertise and effort. His devotion to CVA activities has included: handling arrangements for workshops and banquets, preparing T&I newsletters, developing social programs, etc. Duane Jansen is a dedicated person who is always willing to put forth the effort to make vocational education in Colorado outstanding. The Colorado Vocational Association is proud to award Duane G. Jansen the 1982 Educator Award for outstanding service and dedication to vocational education. The Colorado Vocational Association Merit Award to an Educator is presented to an educator that is serving in an educational capacity which is directly or indirectly associated with vocational education and who has contributed outstanding service And dedication, to vocational education, in Colorado. Duane is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Albert Jansen of Manning. |
