One day in 1989, after the pool was built, I remember
talking with Rec Director Bruce Beasley in the park about the future of the Rec Center, while looking at this very view.
All of a sudden I said, "Bruce, look there, a water slide could be built on this natural slope where you wouldn't have to build the huge
superstructure on one end to elevate the slide." We both agreed that this could be the next
major project someday...
