John A. Ehrichs, son of Alfred and Clara (Brus) Ehrichs, was born June 17, 1910. He was raised on a farm five miles northwest of Aspinwall, Iowa. In 1981, the farm was recognized as a Century Farm, and four generations of the Ehrichs family had lived there.

John attended school in Aspinwall through the eighth grade. He worked with his father on the farm and they provided custom corn shelling and grain threshing service to their neighbors. John died on September 14, 2002.

Elda M. Ewoldt, daughter of Emil and Ida (Hansen) Ewoldt, was born February 26, 1919, on a farm six miles north of Aspinwall.

John and Elda were married on June 24, 1942. They lived on the Ehrichs family farm until retiring to Manning in 1975. Traveling and visiting family and friends gave them much enjoyment. Elda continues to live in Manning.

John and Elda had three children: John Emil, born May 13, 1943, at Carroll, Iowa; Rosemary Clara (Ehrichs) Stamm, born February 18, 1945, at Manning; Linda Sue Ehrichs Wietfeld, born December 12, 1949, at Manning.

Four grandchildren were born, all in Columbus, Nebraska: Sara Lyn Miner (Mrs. Erik), born December 21, 1972, and Robert James, born March 2, 1976 (children of Robert and Rosemary Stamm); Brian James, born December 9, 1972, and Jamie Lin, born November 30, 1980 (children of James and Linda Wietfeld). Elda has two great-grandchildren: Amelia Suzanne Stamm, born May 18, 2004, at Tulsa, Oklahoma and Kaitlyn Rose Miner, born March 30, 2005 at Overland Park Kansas.
