Dick's Mother, Magdalena (Mayer) Hansen was born in Wolfratshausen, Germany in 1906 and came to America in 1923 at the age of 17. Dick had one brother and six sisters.

Marilyn (Molgaard) Hansen was born at the family home in Hamlin, Iowa on July 28, 1936 to Ted and Louise (Searls) Molgaard. Marilyn had four sisters. Dick and Marilyn both graduated from Viola Consolidated School in Audubon County; Dick in 1954 and Marilyn in 1955. They were married June 17, 1955 at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon.

The first years of their married life they lived in Coon Rapids where Dick was employed at Thorp John Deere; first as a mechanic, then as a salesman. In 1958 they moved to Viola Center where Dick worked for the Audubon Community School as a bus mechanic. In 1960 they moved to Manning when Dick took a job as John Deere Salesman for Puck Impl. He continued working there for 40 years until his retirement. Marilyn worked as a secretary at L.R. Nelson, Wells Mfg. and Burcliff Ind. in Manning.

Dick & Marilyn are the parents of four children. Douglas Dean was born January 16, 1956, Malia Louise (Soll) was born August 6, 1958, Kristin Ann (Dailey) was born June 14, 1960 and Kyle Hans was born November 30, 1963. There are also seven Grandchildren: Adam and Evan Soll, Mackenzi and Tyler Dailey and Shelby, Garrett and Reese Hansen.

Dick & Marilyn enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed a trip they took in 1998 to Germany and Denmark. They visited Dick's cousins in both countries and enjoyed seeing the birth places of both of Dick's parents.

Dick passed away on July 14, 2003, at the Manning Hospital.
