Arlo, son of Julius and Ella (Goettsch) Dammann was born September 4, 1930, in Aspinwall, Iowa. At the age of 3, Arlo's family moved to the present family farm south of Manning. Arlo attended country school near his home and graduated from Manning High School in 1948.
On June 7, 1953, Arlo was united in marriage with Betty Obman in Arcadia.
They had three children: Gary, Colleen, and Wesley Dammann

Claus (C.C.) Dammann was born November 13, 1865, in Betzdolf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and died December 18, 1940. He was a boy servant in Germany and later immigrated to the United States in 1892 because he did not want to serve in the military. On his trip over he was in steerage and did not see daylight until he reached New York City. He took the name C.C. because there was another Claus in the Manning area. His siblings were Margaretha, Gretchen, Jasper, and Fred. Anna Biehl was born March 3, 1872, in Gotzenburg, Holstein, Germany, and died April 18, 1953. She was a girl servant in Germany and immigrated with her parents in 1882. Her siblings were Henry, Mary (Mrs. John Hansen), Margaretha (Mrs. William Bock), and Emma (Mrs. Christopher Hollander).
C.C. and Anna were married April 8, 1893. They farmed southeast of Manning until they retired in town. Both are buried in the Manning Cemetery. C.C. and Anna had four sons: Emil, Ernest, Eddie, and Julius.
Emil was born December 31, 1893, and died September 2, 1981. He married Anna Kelting. They had one son, Marvin. Anna and Marvin died during the flu epidemic in 1918. After her death, Emil married Helena (Lage) Puck. They farmed southeast of Manning.
Ernest was born September 10, 1895, and died September 29, 1975. He was a groundskeeper for the city park and the golf course. He married Maxine Watson and adopted her daughter, Shirley. Maxine cooked in the local cafes. Shirley married Clarence Lippert and they had four children.
Eddie was born October 5, 1897, and died March 18, 1988. He married Alviena Goettsch. They farmed southeast of Manning until they retired. They had four children, Edna, Delores, Herbert, and Donald.
Julius was born March 3, 1903, and died July 7, 1949. He married Ella Annie Goettsch. They farmed southeast of Manning. They had two children: Viola married Harold Behrens; Arlo married Betty Obman. Julius and Ella have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

William James Goettsch was born in Probstei, Schleswig, Germany, on August 1, 1863, and died March 18, 1937. He immigrated to the United States at the age of fifteen. His siblings were Bertha (Mrs. Hans Puck), and Emma (Mrs. Detlef Wehde). Augusta Umland was born March 13, 1874 in Fehmarn, Germany, and died March 15, 1932. She immigrated to the United States in 1884. Her siblings were Jacob, Anna Null, Hannah Schlicting, Henry, and Gretchen Schlisten.
William and Augusta were married September 19, 1897 in Pomeroy, Iowa. They moved to a farm north of Manning and had seven children.
Betty Johanna was born April 3, 1899, and died December 21, 1981. She married Milford Van Buren.
Alviena was born February 1, 1901 and died February 25, 1987. She married Eddie Dammann on February 8, 1922. They had four children: Edna, Delores, Herbert, and Donald.
Ella Annie was born November 4, 1902 and died October 18, 2004. She married Julius Dammann on June 11, 1924. They had two children: Viola married Harold Behrens, and Arlo married Betty Obman. Julius and Ella had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Harry August was born August 18, 1904, and died April 4, 1941. He married Marvel Natzel on December 28, 1927. They had five children: Berdetta married Ernest Jorgens; Roland; William married Beverly Brown; Dennis married Elizabeth Gruen; and Glennis married Stephen Johnson. Harry and Marvel had nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
William was born February 2, 1906, and died August 18, 1993. He married Celia Bohman January 23, 1939. They had two children, Ronald and William. William married Marilyn Tennehill. They had one son, Donald. Donald married Rene Maschke. William and Marilyn have three grandchildren.
Louis Harry was born September 19, 1907, and died October 4, 1986. He married a lady named Martha.
Emil was born June 4, 1915, and died July 21, 1982. He served in the armed services during World War II and is buried in the Fort Snelling, National Cemetery.
